The monsters did receive a overhaul as far as making them look better in a higher resolution, but you’ll still run into ancient dragons that look exactly like a Brachiosaurus. The example, they redid the main character sprites, but ultimately left the enemy sprites the same. In the current state of the game I do find that the graphical overhaul does come short of some expectations though. However on the other hand, newcomers to the title, might find the new look more refreshing and easier for the eyes to fix on for hours on end. For fans looks to rekindle the flames of nostalgia, the new look can come across as a insult to the original sprites.

This is a difficult topic to touch on, because there really isn’t a correct answer or assessment in this category. As this seems to be the largest topic of debate, with long time fans screaming blasphemy for making such dramatic changes to character sprites, and others praising the clean HD upgrade. This hack requires a header to be on your NOINTRO rom *before* applying the patch. The first thing I’d like to touch on is the graphical overhaul between the original release of Final Fantasy VI and the latest release on iOS and Android devices. Apologies to anyone who played it during this time. I’ve also kept the old versions of the patch in the download file for nostalgia’s sake - but I would suggest using the newest version. Pick the one you prefer.Ģ019 Update makes a couple minor changes to the game, but the biggest change is the new face pics. Update adds a second patch to the game - An additional hard mode.

It also adds a couple new pieces of equipment, and has a few other minor balance changes. The newest update fixes several typos, and also changes quite a few late game enemies/bosses. This is a bit harder then the original game, but not absurdly so, so it should be playable if you aren’t looking for a hardtype sort of game.įeel free to try if you are interested! There’s more information available in the readme, but playing it for yourself is the best way to notice the changes. The author wanted to make a hack that was fair to the player, but that felt different enough from the original game. The changes are numerous, the sprites have been fully changed, so has the text, bosses, various enemies, equipment… Some things that people will notice pretty quickly, others that won’t be as easy to pick up. This is a complete hack of Final Fantasy 6.
